Voce Economia

Felt craft projects, patterns you draw yourself, and stitch-by-stitch guides

About

Voce Economia is a felt craft resource. It publishes beginner-friendly projects and technique guides for people who want to cut, stitch, and glue felt into something useful or decorative, starting from nothing more than a few sheets of felt, a pair of scissors, and a needle.

What you will find here

  • Projects such as coasters, bookmarks, ornaments, garlands, flowers, keychains, brooches, pouches, and small stuffed animals, each with a materials list, the finished size, and numbered steps.
  • Technique guides for the skills every project relies on: choosing felt, cutting cleanly, making templates, the basic hand stitches, appliqué, and stuffing.
  • Idea guides that group projects by season, by occasion, or by how much time you have.

If you are new to felt, begin with Felt Crafts for Beginners, then read how to choose felt, how to cut felt, and hand sewing felt. The complete list is on the Tutorials page.

Original projects, built from shapes you draw yourself

The projects on this site are original. None of them reproduces a commercial pattern or a printable template. Each one is described from simple geometry that you draw on paper yourself: a circle traced around a glass, a rectangle measured with a ruler, a heart cut from a sheet folded in half. Measurements are given in inches first, with centimeters in parentheses, so you can scale a project up or down without waiting for a download.

How the tutorials are written

Each tutorial lists what you need at the top, gives the dimensions of every piece before any cutting starts, and describes one action per step. Where a step commonly goes wrong, the tutorial says so and explains the fix. Time estimates are given as ranges because hand sewing speed varies a great deal from person to person.

The site does not publish reviews, ratings, testimonials, or product recommendations, and it does not name brands. Statements about materials are limited to widely known properties, such as the fact that acrylic craft felt can melt under a hot iron.

About the illustrations

The pictures on this site are simplified drawings, not photographs. They are flat illustrations made to show the shape of the pieces, the order of the layers, and the path of a stitch as clearly as possible. Your finished piece will have the texture and small irregularities of real felt and real hand stitching, and it does not need to match a drawing exactly.

Craft safety

Felt crafts use sharp scissors, needles, and pins, and some projects use hot glue. Small parts such as buttons, beads, and key rings are a choking hazard, so items that include them are not suitable for children under 3. Children should be supervised by an adult when cutting, sewing, or gluing. Felt decorations are not toys unless a tutorial says the project was designed as one, and felt should be kept away from candles and other heat sources.

Corrections and suggestions

If a measurement looks wrong, a step is unclear, or a link is broken, please use the Contact page. Corrections are always welcome, and so are suggestions for projects or techniques you would like to see explained.
